About The Practice
Dr. Babak Moeinolmolki currently practices in Los Angeles California and is on staff at 6 major hospitals across Southern California. He has performed over 2000 minimally invasive (laparoscopic) bariatric surgeries as attending surgeon, as well as over 1400 advanced cosmetic plastic surgeries, making him the most uniquely qualified general surgeon for comprehensive weight loss surgery and follow up cosmetic body contouring—what he calls weight loss aesthetic restoration. By integrating body contouring surgery into his weight loss surgery program, he offers significant advantage to his patients during their assessment, surgical and financial planning, surgery regiment, follow up treatment and behavior management, all the way through cosmetic restoration.
Babak Moeinolmolki, MD, FACS is one of the very few surgeons in the country that is dual fellowship trained in minimally invasive surgery as well as cosmetic and body contouring surgery. He is the only surgeon in Southern California with such qualifications. He attended University of California Los Angeles where he received a service excellence award for volunteer work at the UCLA Medical Center while completing both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, and graduating from the College Honors Program with distinction. He then attended medical school at George Washington University School of medicine and received the Robert Dodeck Scholarship award, in 1999. After which, he completed an intensive surgery internship at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, followed by his residency in general surgery at the prestigious Georgetown University Medical Center in 2004.
His venerated skills in minimally invasive surgery prompted him to complete a laparoscopic and bariatric surgery fellowship at Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Montefiore Hospital in NYC. Following, he practiced for 8 years at Greater Baltimore Medical Center where he set up one of the first Center of Excellence programs in state of Maryland and performed over 2000 bariatric surgeries. His passion for restoring the aesthetic balance of his weight loss patient by integrating body contouring surgery into his weight loss surgery program developed during a second fellowship, this time in cosmetic surgery.
Providing extraordinary yet affordable care for his patients and giving back to the community is a core value in his heart and of his practice. Locally, he has partnered with two grant programs and donates his time for patients who are in need of various cosmetic, bariatric or general surgical procedures, but are unable to afford the cost of conventional programs. He believes a surgeon’s true talent can be measured by the amount of time afforded to him by his standard practice, to give back with an open heart to the underserved community among us struggling with general health, weight control, and self-love.
